Newcastle United eye move for Dutch defender – but face competition from Rangers and Atalanta
Newcastle United are reportedly interested in a summer move for former Netherlands under-21 international Danilho Doekhi.
But the Vitesse Arnhem defender is also said to be on the radar of Scottish Premiership champions Rangers and Champions League outfit Atalanta.
According to a report in Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, United are one of five clubs who’ve shown an interest in the centre-half, who has impressed since breaking into the Vitesse first-team in 2018.
Doekhi has played 34 games for Vitesse this season but is out of contract at the end of next season – and the report claims his club may well look to cash in on their talent when the window reopens this summer.
Premier League Fulham and Championship Norwich City are also said to be keen on the 22-year-old.
Doekhi is a product of Ajax’s youth academy and has been capped for the Netherlands at youth level from under-18 to under-21.
