Sporting events in Italy this month are being played behind closed doors.

Everton chief financial officier Sasha Ryazantsev said that it’s “quite likely” the same will happen to Premier League matches.

Ryazantsev said: “Nobody wants to play behind closed doors, and I don’t think it’s inevitable that it will happen, but we feel it’s quite likely it may happen in the coming weeks.”

Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s game against Southampton at the St Mary’s Stadium, United head coach Bruce said: “It’s hard to imagine. They’re doing it now in Italy, and it’s something we’re probably going to face. We all know football is a way out for everybody, but people’s lives are at stake and we’re going to have to be guided by the authorities. It’s starting to look inevitable.”
