Newcastle United handed summer transfer boost as prime target becomes 'unsettled'
Lille boss Christophe Galtier has admitted there is tension behind the scenes with Newcastle United target Boubakary Soumare.
The 20-year-old, linked with the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool, was subject of a £35million bid from the Magpies in January.
However, Soumare rejected contract talks with United and has reportedly become unsettled at the Ligue 1 outfit.
He hasn’t featured for Lille since the closure of the window, and Galtier was quizzed on his recent omissions.
“There is a situation at the club that I do not comment on," Galtier told French newspaper L’Equipe.
“In seasons, there can be tension between a player and his club. We’ll settle this internally and find a solution."
Galtier added: "Under these conditions, I, therefore, decided to work on two other options this week [Cheikh Niasse and Jean Onana]."
Newcastle could be open to revisiting a deal, however any decision will likely come down to the player.
