Newcastle are currently monitoring Bruno Guimaraes’ ankle and Fabian Schar’s concussion though neither are thought to be serious. Eddie Howe’s side currently sit sixth in the Premier League table and will be looking to end a run of five games without a win when they host Wolverhampton Wanderers at St James’ Park on Sunday (4:30pm kick-off).
Both Schar and Guimaraes trained as normal at Darsley Park during the week and will be in contention to feature
One player they will be without on Sunday is Joelinton. The Brazilian will serve a two-match suspension after picking up his 10th booking of the season during the 2-0 defeat at Manchester City last time out.
The Magpies also have longer-term injuries to assess as well as a case of a player being frozen out of the first team squad.

5. Matty Longstaff - ACL
The young midfielder picked up a serious knee injury while on loan at Colchester United and has since returned to the club. He had undergone surgery and will be out for the remainder of the season with his contract set to expire in the summer. What Howe said: “Very difficult for any young players to pick up any serious injury. It is bad timing for him. We certainly wish him well, and hope he recovers full. “We’ll support him back to fully fitness. There’ll be no concerns there. It’s our duty.” Estimated return date: Late summer 2023 Photo: Getty
