Newcastle United injury news: When Miguel Almiron, Nick Pope & Co are expected back in action - photo gallery
Alexander Isak’s brace secured all three points at the City Ground as Howe named an unchanged team from the win over Wolves.
However, just hours before Friday’s match, it was revealed that Miguel Almiron had picked up an injury – one that ruled him out of featuring for Paraguay in the forthcoming international period.
The Magpies were able to cope with Almiron’s absence, but injury worries across the squad are just starting to creep up.
The members of the squad not representing their national sides are currently in Dubai for a training camp as Eddie Howe puts his team through their paces ahead of a crucial few games.
Here, we take a look at the latest injury news from Newcastle United to see the estimated return dates of some players that have been absent from the squad in recent weeks.

6. Matty Longstaff
Whilst on-loan at Colchester United, Longstaff suffered a season-ending ACL injury. The midfielder is back at Newcastle and receiving treatment for the injury. Howe said: “It’s a very difficult time when your contract is coming up to get a potentially long-term injury is a real difficult one for him, but we’ll support him as a team, as a club, and make sure we fully nurse him back to full fitness.” Estimated return date = 2023/24 pre-season. 7. Ryan Fraser
Fraser has been training with the Under-21’s and as Howe revealed at the beginning of this month, the former Bournemouth man has no immediate future in the first-team. Last month, Howe said: “Ryan’s training with the Under-21s. I made the decision to concentrate on players that are committed to Newcastle. For the benefit of the group, I’ve made that call.” In an update on Thursday, Howe said: "I think I made comments on that last week. Certainly, I don’t think that’s something I should be commenting on every week." Estimated return date = unknown. Photo: Ian MacNicol

8. Joelinton
The Brazilian served the second game of a two match ban against Nottingham Forest having picked up his 10th yellow card during the game with Manchester City. Estimated return date = 02/04 v Manchester United (h). Photo: Michael Regan
