Newcastle United issue coronavirus statement ahead of Sheffield United clash - which could impact supporters

Newcastle United have announced plans to take “proactive steps” to prevent the risk of the coronavirus spreading.

Premier League fixtures will go ahead as normal this weekend as the Magpies welcome Sheffield United to St James’s Park.

And to minimise the risk of the virus widening, Newcastle have asked supporters to follow NHS Guidelines.

Additionally, the club have announced all non-football appearances, informal events, meetings and public engagements have been cancelled.

Indeed, players will not stop for photos and autographs on match days or at the training ground while there is a serious ongoing threat to public health.

On match day, stadium tours have been cancelled and access to the dressing room, tunnel area and dugouts will be restricted to essential personnel only at all times.

Newcastle have vowed to keep supporters informed should authorities enforce a change, i.e. playing fixtures behind closed doors.
