The youth, signed from Queen’s Park, will see his goal for Scotland under-17s against Hungary go up against five other strikes, including Celtic attacker Ryan Christie’s vital European Championship qualifying goal in Serbia.

Thomson, now 17, netted his first goal for Scotland kids in his fourth cap in the February friendly in Murcia, Spain. The central midfielder has been a key player for Newcastle’s under-18 group since signing in 2019.
