Newcastle United transfer news: Magpies rival Everton for £17m-rated Austrian target man, Liverpool's Divock Origi linked

As it stands, Andy Carroll and Dwight Gayle are poised to leave Newcastle United this summer – with the latter subject to speculation this week.

Gayle, 30, can walk away from St James’s Park at the end of the season on a free transfer with an agreement yet to be reached over a new contract.

The former West Bromwich Albion loanee is bound to attract plenty of admirers. Recently, Gayle was linked with a move to Turkish giants Galatasaray.

Exits for either Gayle or Carroll or both will leave United light in the striking department – and the rumour mill is already throwing up some potential targets.

As per Spanish outlet GOL Digital, the Magpies are reportedly showing interest in Liverpool forward Divock Origi, who has played just 181 minutes of Premier League football this term.

With Origi out-of-favour under Jurgen Klopp, the Belgian is keen to leave Anfield to find regular first-team action, which is said to have caught the attention of Newcastle, Real Sociedad, Aston Villa and Wolves.

It claimed the 25-year-old, who has three years left on his contract at Liverpool, is valued at around £17million

Elsewhere, Steve Bruce’s side are also being credited with interest in Stuttgart’s Sasa Kalajdzic.

The £17million-rated Austrian target man, who has drawn comparisons to Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland, has netted 13 goals in 24 appearances this campaign.

Again, the Magpies would be required to win a highly-contested race for the 23-year-old with clubs such as Juventus, RB Leipzig and top-flight counterparts Everton also mentioned in the report.

Here are the latest transfer headlines surrounding Newcastle and their Premier League rivals.
