Newcastle United release huge Bazoumana Toure injury news as three players ruled out vs Aston Villa

Bazoumana Toure hobbled off in the dying embers of Newcastle United’s 4-1 defeat to Aston Villa.

Matthias Jaissle has confirmed that Bazoumana Toure is “much better” after his withdrawal on Monday night.

Newcastle United brought the Ivorian off the bench midway through the second half in the 4-1 defeat to Coventry City. However, his cameo was curtailed as the clock ticked into stoppage time.

A blow to his leg was enough to force Jaissle into another substitution - with Dan Burn called upon for the final few minutes. Fortunately, Toure has escaped a serious injury and should be fine when Aston Villa visit St James’ Park this weekend.

‘Much better’ - Matthias Jaissle

“First of all, Bazou seems to be much better,” Jaissle told reporters. “We had him before that, but it didn't look that well straight away during the match. He was progressing well in the last few days, so hopefully he's able to join the group on Saturday.”

Three players ruled out

Anthony Elanga and Jacob Ramsey will miss the Villa clash but should return to first-team training next week. But as for Tino Livramento, there is no definitive timeline set on his comeback.

“Unfortunately, he's (Elanga) been out for many, many weeks and now it's the process to bring him back,” Jaissle added. “Slowly but surely, in a smart way. We are not in too much of a hurry.

“Hopefully, next week he's about to train again with the group - at least partially - and then we need to reintegrate him again step by step. We miss him a lot, I can't wait to have him back in the squad.

“With Tino, we need to be also cautious and pay attention that it's nothing where we hurry up. You know about his injury situation and history in the past, but we are optimistic that also in the next weeks we'll bring him back, but slowly and step by step.

“With JJ (Ramsey) I think it's a bit different. He's making much more progress now, a little bit like Anthony (Elanga). Hopefully, also next week he can join in partially in the training and then we build it from there.”
