Big Tino Livramento injury update drops after fresh Newcastle United setback
Tino Livramento has suffered nine separate injuries since joining Newcastle United in 2023.
Tino Livramento is set to withdraw from the England squad following his latest Newcastle United setback.
Matthias Jaissle was forced into a tactical rethink ahead of the 2-1 win over Hull City. Amar Dedic had already picked up a muscle strain - handing an opportunity to Livramento.
However, the 23-year-old broke down again, with Lewis Miley asked to fill in at right-back. Just hours earlier, Livramento had been recalled to the England squad for the upcoming international break.

Tino Livramento injury woes
In June, he cruelly suffered a calf injury on the eve of the World Cup - sidelining him throughout pre-season. Livramento has worked his way back to full fitness in recent weeks but, just as the chance to impress Jaissle arrived, was dealt another crushing blow.
Fitness concerns have plagued Livramento’s three years on Tyneside. He is undoubtedly talented - hence his England recognition - but has spent significant time on the treatment table.
For context, the latest injury is Livramento’s ninth since joining from Southampton in 2023. It is the key reason why top clubs stayed clear and interest - despite having less than two years to run on his current deal - during the summer was minimal.
England withdrawal
Livramento is now expected to miss England’s fixtures against Spain and Croatia as well as the double-header with the Czech Republic. In truth, his inclusion was a surprise given how little football he has played.
The Three Lions have somewhat of a defensive injury crisis. Thomas Tuchel is without Livramento, Reece James, John Stones, Djed Spence and Dan Burn.
This is good news for Lewis Hall - arguably Newcastle’s standout performer so far this season. The 22-year-old earned a place in the 27-man squad to bounce back after his World Cup snub.
Matthias Jaissle on Tino Livramento
Jaissle confirmed Livramento would undergo an MRI scan to learn the true extent of his injury. He told reporters: “He suffered with some discomfort in the morning after yesterday's (Friday's) training. He will have an MRI scan but nothing more from my side on this.
“After this international window. We hope, we pray, and we’re optimistic. That’s the only thing at the moment in this situation, what we can do. We count on the medical department to get the players back as soon as possible.”
