Newcastle United next game date set as Premier League clubs agree top flight football's return

The date for Newcastle United’s return to Premier League action has been provisionally agreed by representatives of the top flight’s clubs.

Football in England will return behind-closed-doors on Wednesday, June 17, according to reports, with Aston Villa v Sheffield United and Manchester City v Arsenal. Both of those matches are games-in-hand and would bring each of the 20 Premier League sides level in terms of games played.

Newcastle’s actual return to action would come the following weekend – between Friday, June 19 and Sunday, June 21. A full fixture list is scheduled for that weekend.

According to the BBC, at a Premier League meeting today the league’s member clubs ‘have agreed in principle’ to the above dates.

United have not played since March 7, where they beat Southampton 1-0 at St Mary’s to move eight points clear of the top flight relegation zone with nine games left to play.
