I scored Newcastle United's greatest Premier League goal - I am forever a 'Geordie boy'
Former Newcastle United striker Papiss Cisse has discussed his iconic wonder goal against Chelsea.
Former Newcastle United striker Papiss Cisse has relived one of the most iconic goals in Premier League history and revealed his love for the Magpies just over a decade after his departure from St James Park.
The former Senegal international joined United midway through the 2011/12 season when Alan Pardew’s side surpassed all expectations to qualify for the Europa League after being discussed as a potential relegation candidate.
Cisse marked his debut by coming off the bench to score the winning goal in a 2-1 home win against Aston Villa before going on to score 13 goals in his first 14 games in black and white as Newcastle ended the season in fifth place in the Premier League table.

However, one strike stands above all others. Cisse’s stunning long-range effort that seemed to defy the laws of physics against Chelsea is discussed as one of United’s greatest goals of the Premier League era.
The 41-year-old believes every striker wants to score a similar goal and hit back at suggestions he was trying to find a team-mate with a cross.
Speaking on the Every Given Sunday podcast, the former Magpies striker said: “That’s why the Blues don’t like me.
“I have a lot of friends, they are Chelsea fans, they were so angry at me. People think it’s a cross. Honestly, it’s not a cross. But the ball going to go there [in the far corner of Cech’s net], I don’t know, I didn’t know but it was my lucky day.
“That goal is my passport, everywhere I go the first thing that comes to me is ‘My God, your goal against Chelsea’. Every striker in the world wants to score this kind of goal.”
Despite leaving the Magpies to join Chinese club Shandong Luneng during the summer of 2016 before going on to play for Alanyaspor, Fenerbahce, Rizespor, Amiens and Palm City, Cisse revealed just how closely he holds Newcastle to his heart after his four-year stint at St James Park.
He said: “A lot of Senegalese, they support Marseille - but Newcastle is the team I love most. I’m Geordie, the black Geordie boy.”
