Newcastle United are looking for a new sessional coach to work at pre-academy to Under-16s level following further changes at Little Benton.

Newcastle’s academy coaching set-up has seen significant changes in 2024 with Diarmuid O'Carroll replacing Ben Dawson, Chris Moore replacing Graeme Carrick and Jack Brazil replacing Ian Bogie at Under-21s, Under-18s and Under-16s level respectively. There have been coaching changes and appointments throughout the academy, and more are coming.

Last week it was confirmed that academy sessional coach Liam Bridcutt had left to take up the assistant manager’s position at Gateshead following Carl Magnay’s appointment as manager. The former Leeds United captain and Sunderland midfielder has been working at Newcastle over the summer but his arrival was only announced last month.

Just over a month later, he made the short journey across the River Tyne to Gateshead.

And Newcastle are looking for a new ‘talented individual’ to join the academy system as a sessional coach. Applications close today (October 23, 2024).

The job advert on the club website read: “You will be responsible for assisting with the implementation of the Academy coaching curriculum and support the development of players at Newcastle United Academy, under the guidance of the Heads of Player and Coach Development.

“You will effectively, coach, mentor and develop the performance of players within our foundation phase, whilst assisting the Coach (Lead) to plan, prepare and deliver well structured, enjoyable and accurate sessions. You will work within the Coach Competency Framework (CFF) and review individual performance against the CCF for all aspects of the roles.”
