There remains a degree of doubt about whether the 2019/20 campaign will completed or scrapped, despite a statement of intent from the Premier League, EFL, PFA and FA earlier this month, stating their intention to get their fixtures completed.

But with the gravity of the situation and impact of the coronavirus outbreak only just hitting home in the UK, there seems to have been some changes of minds among the Premier League hierarchy.

Dubravka has his own doubts about the English top division getting their fixtures completed within the rumoured timeframe – with June seen as the month when things could get moving.

He does not, though, doubt this season will not continue, especially with so much cash on the line.

“We have a long time without football,” said Dubravka, who is currently out injured with a knee problem.

“I think that the season will be completed, as the loss of television rights would be huge. I just don’t know when it will be. But probably not by end of June.”

On the prospect of games going behind-closed-doors, he continued: “Guys aren’t used to playing in front of an empty stadiums.

“I have experienced half-empty stands in Slovakia and the Czech Republic, so it wouldn’t be such a novelty for me. We’ll see how they set up the rules.”
