Newcastle dominated the first half with 83% possession and 14 shots on goal to Leicester City’s zero without having anything to show for it as the score remained goalless at the break. The Magpies hit the post three times and had a ball cleared off the line during the game as they were left frustrated in front of goal.
Leicester didn’t register a shot on goal until stoppage time as the teams played out a 0-0 draw which confirmed a top four finish and Champions Leaguefootball for Newcastle for the first time in 20 years.
Brought real balance to the team on his return. Never missed a beat in the middle of the park. Denied by the feet of Daniel Iverson in the second half. Showed why he’s Newcastle’s unsung hero this season.
Was lucky to avoid a VAR intervention after being booked for a knee-high challenge. Should have scored after heading the ball onto the post from point blank range. Still helped Newcastle dominate possession throughout.
Curled a decent effort into the hands of the Leicester goalkeeper from the edge of the box. Linked up well with Isak down the left side. Lively on only his second Premier League start.
