With the international break coming to an end, all focus turns towards the Magpies and their battle to beat the drop.
Plenty has been said in the aftermath of United’s 3-0 defeat at Brighton and Hove Albion, not least the future of head coach Steve Bruce.
However, owner Mike Ashley is sticking by his man, much to the displeasure of supporters.
The challenge now for Bruce and his players is to ensure the club avoids a third relegation under Ashley.
Indeed, fate is still in their own hands with a two-point advantage and a game in-hand over 18th placed Fulham.
Ahead of the defining part of the season, we take a look at which players Bruce has called upon the most this campaign via minutes played.
The figures come from scouting experts WyScout as we rank every player from lowest to highest – which includes some surprising results:

13. 14th - Ryan Fraser - 925 minutes
Fraser has appeared 18 times for Newcastle in the Premier League this season, which may come as a surprise given his reduced amount of minutes on the field. Photo: Stu Forster

14. 13th - Allan Saint-Maximin - 959 minutes
The Frenchman is United's livewire but injuries and illness have significantly reduced his playing time this season. Photo: ALEX PANTLING

15. 12th - Fabian Schar - 1218 minutes
Schar hasn't played since he was stretchered off against Southampton in February. It appears unlikely that he'll build on his 16 appearances this season. Photo: Stu Forster

16. 11th - Federico Fernandez - 1383 minutes
Fernandez's last appearance in a United shirt came in the 1-0 defeat at Sheffield United in January after picking up a thigh problem. He has however been an unused substitute during the previous three games. Photo: Ian MacNicol
