Newcastle United's new predicted final Premier League finish ahead of Burnley and Palace clashes
Where are Newcastle United, Burnley and Crystal Palace predicted to finish in this season's Premier League?
Newcastle United’s dismal away form has hampered Eddie Howe’s side in their attempts to push up the Premier League table.
As it stands in the aftermath of a disappointing Boxing Day defeat at Manchester United, the Magpies are currently sitting in the bottom half of the table and will hope for an improvement in fortunes when they travel to relegation threatened Burnley on Tuesday night. Despite their poor form on the road, Newcastle only sit four points adrift of the top seven and will still hope to force their way into the European spots before the end of the season.
However, there can be no doubt the season has felt like one of struggle so far as the Magpies have failed to find the consistency required to challenge for a place in the top seven. A hectic January could go some way to defining the success of the season with Howe and his players facing nine games in four different competitions and that includes the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final with Manchester City, an FA Cup third round home tie against Bournemouth and Champions League clashes with PSV Eindhoven and current holders Paris Saint-Germain.
But it is the bread and butter of the Premier League that will concern Newcastle supporters and upcoming games against Burnley, Leeds United and Crystal Palace would appear to provide an opportunity to kickstart a much improved run of form. But where are Newcastle predicted to finish in the Premier League table come the end of the season? We take a look at the latest predicted final Premier League table with the help of the stats experts at Opta.

What did Eddie Howe say about Manchester United v Newcastle United?

Speaking after the Old Trafford defeat, Howe said: "Second half was a lot better than the first but we didn't do enough, we have to do more. It was not through a lack of effort, we were very dominant in that second period and I thought if we scored we would go on to win.
"We started very well in the first 15 minutes, we were slightly rocked with the goal and we didn't react well to that. The game was there for us to take. We didn't look as good physically as we did against Chelsea when we were excellent. There wasn't a tactical problem for us at any stage of the game, we're disappointed with how we defended the goal and long throws was something we prepared for and then disappointed with our actions.
"We cut through them a lot of times, put in a lot of crosses and the chances were not there. If we had scored that equalising goal the momentum was with us but it was not to be."I thought Anthony played well, direct, full of running, yes the goal was not there. We need more goalmouth action and to be clinical in front of goal. They managed the game well, but they were allowed to."
