Newcastle United deliver official Sandro Tonali update ahead of Fulham - five out & one doubt

Newcastle United injuries: Eddie Howe has provided a small update on Sandro Tonali’s fitness heading into Sunday’s season finale.

Sandro Tonali could be available for Newcastle United at Fulham this weekend after being forced off during the 3-1 win against West Ham United.

Tonali suffered a suspected hamstring injury in the match as Newcastle now head to Craven Cottage looking to make it 10 points from their last 12 available in the Premier League.

It marks a turnaround from five straight defeats but it ultimately won’t be good enough to see the side secure European football this season.

Despite the final European place dropping to eighth and the Champions League place potentially dropping as low as sixth depending on the final day results, Newcastle can’t finish higher than ninth even with a comprehensive win at Fulham.

But the Cottagers will overtake the Magpies should they secure victory on Sunday (4pm kick-off).

Ryan Sessegnon has been out injured for Fulham while defender Joachim Andersen is suspended for Sunday’s match.

For Newcastle, Emil Krafth, Fabian Schar, Tino Livramento and Lewis Miley will miss the match due to injury. Joelinton is also expected to miss out due to a thigh problem.

Tonali remains a doubt for the trip to London this weekend but, the suggestions from Howe are positive ahead of the match.

“Yeah, potentially available,” Howe said on Tonali. “We'll have a look at him again today. I don't think it was anything too serious.”

Looking ahead to the match, Howe added: “I think we hope to continue the upturn in our recent performances, the upturn in our in-possession play. We want to end the season on a real high.”
