Newcastle United transfer news: Magpies suffer Jesse Lingard and Omar Colley blow as DeAndre Yedlin edges closer to exit door

Newcastle United are preparing to face Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon – but there’s still one eye on the January transfer window ahead of Monday’s deadline.

It had planned to be a quiet one for Steve Bruce this month but the Magpies’ run of 11 games without a win has forced the 60-year-old’s hand.

Newcastle United writer Liam Kennedy, in his weekly Q&A, said: “I’d be surprised if there isn’t at least one in and one out between now and then.

"United had looked like they were struggling to shift players from their squad – and they need to in order to free up space in the 25-man Premier League list, as well as opening up some wriggle room in the wage budget.”

Matt Ritchie is believed to be the most likely to depart with former club Bournemouth trying to re-sign the 31-year-old, however there is strong speculation surrounding DeAndre Yedlin too.

As per reports in Turkey, Galatasaray have “‘completed all transactions” after he encountered work permit issues in England.

The USA international is out-of-contract at St James’s Park this summer and according to Asist Analiz via Sport Witness, his move will be announced to the Turkish Public Disclosure Platform (stock exchange) in the coming days.

It is unknown whether the reported agreement will go through at the end of the campaign or this month – though the latter could perhaps occur, depending on incomings on Tyneside.

In terms of incomings, the Gazette understands Bruce wants to get Leicester City’s Hamza Choudhury through the door, while interest is retained in Manchester United duo Brandon Williams and Jesse Lingard.

However, Sky Sports say Lingard has rejected a move to St James’s Park and West Brom and will instead join West Ham United on loan for the remainder of the season.

The total cost of a the loan deal is thought to be more than £3million, which takes into account the loan fee and Lingard's wages.

Meanwhile, a Serie A defender is reportedly unkeen on a move to the Magpies.

Here’s a round-up of some of the other transfer rumours involving Newcastle, and their top-flight rivals this morning:
