Newcastle have gone from Premier League relegation fodder to European challengers and Carabao Cup finalists in less than 18 months under new ownership. Around £250million has been invested in the playing squad since the takeover and The Magpies currently sit fifth in the Premier League table.
Eddie Howe’s side have recently lost the Carabao Cup final 2-0 to Manchester United. Despite not being able to end the club’s 54 year trophy drought, it was a first major final at Wembley Stadium in 24 years.
Mike Ashley sold Newcastle United to PIF, PCP Capital Partners and RB Sports & Media for £305million. And the club has been transformed since.
Here are 31 key moments since the takeover...

25. October 1 to November 12 2022: Magic Miggy
Newcastle surged up the table before the world cup break with seven wins and a draw from eight matches. This was no small part down to a remarkable run of form from Miguel Almiron in which he scored seven goals. The run of form saw The Magpies move up to third in the table and pick up a monthly award hat-trick for October with Eddie Howe winning manager of the month and Almiron winning the player and goal awards. 26. November 10 2022: Newcastle trio get England call-ups
For the first time since the 1998 World Cup, Newcastle had three players called-up to the England squad for a major tournament. As expected Kieran Trippier and Nick Pope were named in the squad. Callum Wilson was also called-up following a strong run of form prior to the World Cup break. | Getty Images

27. December 4-9 2022: Return to Saudi Arabia
Newcastle returned to Saudi Arabia for more warm-weather training during the World Cup break. This time they were in the capital Riyadh as they faced Saudi Pro League Champions Al Hilal, winning 5-0 and lifting the Diriyah Season Cup in the process. The trip also saw the club explore fan engagement and commercial opportunities to increase its presence in the Kingdom. Photo: Serena Taylor

28. January 1-31 2023: January window
Newcastle went into January sitting third in the Premier League and looking to push for a place in the Champions League in the second half of the campaign. But transfer activity was limited during the winter window as the club signed Anthony Gordon from Everton for £40million and Harrison Ashby from West Ham United for around £3million. At the same time, the club allowed Chris Wood and Jonjo Shelvey to join Nottingham Forest without bringing in direct replacements. The Magpies have not won a match since the transfer window closed and have since dropped to fifth in the table. Photo: PAUL ELLIS
