The £25 million former Fulham left-sided player struggled for gametime at the London Stadium last season – and United are believed to be exploring the option of taking the player on a temporary basis, with the Magpies short of a left-back following Danny Rose’s exit.

The Daily Star report Jose Mourinho is a big fan of the England under-21 man, but could allow him to leave in order to get games.

Meanwhile, the Athletic report Matty Longstaff has held further discussions with Newcastle boss Steve Bruce despite his release on a free contract.

Longstaff’s deal expired last week, with the player currently weighing up his future options.

The same outlet also claim Ollie Watkins, of Brentford, is a player on the wanted list at United, while Fabian Schar and DeAndre Yedlin could also leave, if offers come in for the duo, both of whom have just a year left on their current deal.
