The 24-year-old Austria international winger will have a chance to play Champions League football with the Bundesliga outfit after joining from Italian side Inter Milan.

Sporting director Max Eberl told the cub's official website: "We're delighted that the loan move has gone through and that Tino has chosen to come to Borussia. He is a very versatile player and adds even more strength and depth to our squad."

Lazaro made 15 appearances for Newcastle during the second half of last season, 10 of them as a substitute, as he found chances limited at St James' Park.

He said on his official Twitter account: "Can't wait for @Bundesliga_EN & @ChampionsLeague nights with this great club."

Meanwhile, Matty Longstaff has agreed to stay on at United long-term following talks with manager Steve Bruce.
