Matthias Jaissle overlooks Newcastle United pair as key man recalled v Aston Villa
Matthias Jaissle has named his Newcastle United starting XI to face Aston Villa in the Premier League.
Joelinton has been recalled to Newcastle United’s starting line-up for this evening’s Premier League clash against Aston Villa.
The Brazilian is the only change from Monday night’s 4-1 defeat at Coventry City, with Jacob Murphy making way.
Joelinton missed the final two matches of last season with a thigh injury before suffering a setback midway through pre-season. He returned to training during the recent international break and now makes his first start since May.

As vice-captain, the 30-year-old takes the armband from Malick Thiaw, with captain Dan Burn only fit enough to make the bench.
Burn came on for the final four minutes of stoppage time at the CBS Arena after Toure picked up an injury. Like Joelinton, it was the Blyth-born defender’s first appearance of the campaign.
Joelinton makes first Newcastle United start of the new season
Newcastle head coach Matthias Jaissle hinted Joelinton would start during his pre-match press conference on Thursday.
“Yeah, we need to manage that really carefully,” Jaissle said when asked if Joelinton and Burn could start. “Like I mentioned already, that's the tricky part. We missed them so much.
“Joe is now longer in the training compared to Dan and these are now the next steps for both of them to integrate them, to give them more game time.
“For Dan it will most likely be too short to get the starting position as he just trained a couple of times really with us. For Joelinton, it could be a bit different.”
Matthias Jaissle overlooks Newcastle United duo
Jaissle has resisted temptation to bring Toure and Sean Steur into his starting XI, despite calls from sections of the fanbase on social media.
Toure impressed off the bench at the CBS Arena before picking up a knock late on. Meanwhile, Gonzalez has again been selected ahead of Steur.
Speaking about Steur on Thursday, Jaissle said: “Of course he's knocking on the door due to his quality. He shows that in the training sessions.
“This is a player I mentioned many times where I believe that we have so much joy and fun with him in the future here at the club. But he needs also time.
“He had that up and downs already during the season. Nico did a good job as well, even though we lost against Coventry. So he's knocking on the door and I'm aware of it and he should just continue developing.”
