Boupendza was close to joining Russian outfit Krasnodar recently, however the 24-year-old rejected the move with the hope of following in the footsteps of fellow countryman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the UK.

Newcastle, alongside Southampton, Tottenham, Leicester, West Ham, Crystal Palace, Brighton and Wolves, are all said to be monitoring the former Bordeaux man.

It is believed Hatayspor will only consider offers around the £8.5million mark, as recently confirmed by club president Dr Luftu Savas.

The Magpies could be two strikers light this summer with the future of Andy Carroll and Dwight Gayle yet to resolved, whose contracts expire this summer.
