Newcastle United signing & exit officially confirmed as big money transfer lined up

Newcastle United transfers: The transfer window is open and Newcastle’s first two major transfers have been ratified.

The summer transfer window is officially open for Newcastle United.

The Magpies have already agreed two deals already this summer with Anthony Gordon joining Barcelona for £70million 20-year-old goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen joining from Stade de Reims for £18million. Both deals were officially registered from June 15 with the window now open.

But there is set to be plenty more to come on the transfer front for United.

NUFC pushing to sign Spanish winger

Newcastle have identified Osasuna winger Victor Munoz as the replacement for Anthony Gordon and are confident of getting a deal agreed.

The 22-year-old is with the Spain national team at the 2026 World Cup. The Gazette understands Newcastle have representatives stateside to help finalise any deals with players at the tournament.

Personal terms are not understood to be an issue as Newcastle look to finalise a financial package with Osasuna below Munoz’s £35million release clause.

Real Madrid have a buy-back clause and 50% of Munoz’s economic rights but have given the green light for Newcastle to progress with a purchase. Sources in Spain have claimed that Real Madrid may insist on inserting another buy-back clause should the winger join Newcastle.

Munoz joined Osasuna from Real Madrid last summer for around £5million.

Newcastle United goalkeeper uncertainty

As revealed by The Gazette, Newcastle will look to move Nick Pope on this summer as they push to bring in James Trafford for a third summer running.

But club sources have indicated that signing Trafford from Manchester City this summer, while a priority, would be a financially difficult deal to do. It would also be dependent on the club finding a willing buyer for Pope.

Alternatively, the club have a back-up plan in place should they miss out on Trafford again. An older, established goalkeeper could be brought in to become the club’s new No. 1 on a shorter-term deal.

The club will also look to sign a replacement for John Ruddy on a free transfer.

More top departures possible for NUFC

While the big money departure of Anthony Gordon has relieved pressure on Newcastle to agree any more notable departures this summer, it doesn’t rule them out entirely.

Sandro Tonali has been heavily linked with a move away this summer and would be open to a departure after the Magpies missed out on European qualification. The club would demand a significant fee for the Italian should any interested party make a move.

There has also been plenty of noise surrounding Lewis Hall, amplified by the player’s frustration at missing out on the England squad.

Manchester United are interested in the 21-year-old, but Newcastle rate Hall very highly and do not want to lose him.

The club will listen to offers for Joe Willock this summer as he heads into the final year of his contract.

In terms of incomings after Munoz and a potential two goalkeepers, Newcastle will look at signing another midfielder should Willock depart and a new, young right-back is also on the agenda after Kieran Trippier and Emil Krafth left the club.
