Southampton have joined the race to sign Newcastle United winger Jacob Murphy, according to Football Insider.

It was reported by the same publication that the 26-year-old’s contract does not expire this summer, contrary to reports.

It’s now claimed the Magpies have set a £3million asking price for Murphy, who is also attracting interest from Rangers and Watford.

The former Norwich City man has excelled for Steve Bruce in recent weeks as a right-wing – scoring the equaliser in Sunday’s win at Burnley.

On current form, it’d be a surprise to see Newcastle offload him at all, especially for such a little fee.

Sunderland interested in former Newcastle ‘target’

Sunderland and Swansea City are reportedly interested in former Newcastle United target Marc Leonard.

The Magpies are believed to have missed out on the 19-year-old midfielder in January 2018 when he decided to swap Hearts for Brighton and Hove Albion.

His contract at the Amex Stadium is set to expire this summer – and he isn’t short of offers.
