Newcastle United release 93-word statement as Nick Woltemade deadline-day transfer secured
Juventus have signed Newcastle United striker Nick Woltemade on a season-long loan.
Nick Woltemade has completed his loan move to Juventus for the upcoming season.
The German jetted to Italy earlier today to complete a medical. Signed by Newcastle United last summer, Woltemade enjoyed an impressive start, with four goals in his first five Premier League games.
However, his form soon nosedived as Eddie Howe deployed the 24-year-old in a central midfield role. The early signs under Matthias Jaissle have also failed to convince Newcastle that Woltemade can play a big part in the season ahead.
A move abroad is viewed as the best decision for all parties. There is no obligation for Juve to sign Woltemade next summer - giving Newcastle the chance to dictate a potential transfer fee.
Noises emerged last week that Woltemade could be loaned out before the window slammed shut. The deal ultimately hinged on the Magpies securing a forward - with Matias Fernandez-Pardo’s arrival the key domino to fall.
In a brief statement, Newcastle confirmed Woltemade’s exit while wishing him well for the campaign ahead. An announcement read: “Newcastle United forward Nick Woltemade has completed a season-long loan move to Serie A side Juventus.
“The German international has featured 53 times in all competitions, scoring 11 goals, since joining the Magpies from VfB Stuttgart last summer. Nick appeared as a second-half substitute during Saturday’s 2-0 Premier League victory away to Tottenham Hotspur.
“The 24-year-old will now link up with Luciano Spalletti’s Juventus, who sit fourth in the Italian top-flight after winning both of their opening fixtures. Everybody at Newcastle United wishes Nick the very best of luck for the season ahead.”
