Newcastle United transfer news: Portuguese winger tipped for Euro 2020 call on Magpies' summer radar plus £30m-rated striker talk
Reports in Portugal claim United continue to monitor the player, who according to Record, was subject to a Magpies offer of around £11million in January.
Wideman Horta has been in sensational form for his club side this season. In his 39 games to date he’s scored 18 goals in all competitions, while laying on a further seven goals for his teammates.
This form has seen Horta emerge as an outsider to make defending champions Portugal’s Euro 2020 squad.
Portuguese print publication Record claim United would not have to cough up the player’s £25million contractual release clause, although they would have to up their reported initial approach.
Meanwhile, according to the Daily Record in Scotland, United continue to keep an eye on French frontman Odsonne Edouard.
Everton and Manchester United are also claimed to be interested in the player, who is rated in the £30million bracket by Celtic.
The Hoops paid £9million to PSG for the player in the summer of 2018, following a successful loan spell at Parkhead.
Elsewhere, former Magpies midfielder Ki Sung-yueng has been signed by Spanish side RCD Mallorca.
The South Korean international, formerly of Sunderland, Celtic and Swansea City, has signed a short-term deal until June 30, 2020.
Ki was released by manager Steve Bruce on the final day of the transfer window in January, as United looked to trim down their Premier League squad following the arrival of Nabil Bentaleb, Valentino Lazaro and Danny Rose.
