Newcastle United are looking to pip Celtic to the signing of Kyle Joseph from Wigan Athletic.
That’s according to a report by the Daily Mail.
The youngster is out of contract at the end of the season and Steve Bruce’s side are hoping to win the race for his signature.
Joseph, 19m was the subject of a rejected bid by Barnsley in January, whilst it has also been suggested that League One rivals Blackpool were interested.

Newcastle United are said to exploring free agent options for the upcoming summer transfer window.

Newcastle United are one of the clubs interested in 21-year-old Championship forward Antoine Semenyo.
The attacker has directly contributed to 12 goals this season and is being eyed by the Magpies according to TEAMtalk.
Rumors also claim that Semenyo is wanted Crystal Palace, Southampton, Brighton and West Ham.
The forward has embarked on loan spells at Newport and Sunderland respectively before establishing him as a firm fan favorite at Bristol Rovers.
