Newcastle head into the match at St James’ Park (8pm kick-off) looking to extend their eight game unbeaten run in all competitions. Over the weekend, The Magpies beat Crystal Palace 4-0 thanks to goals from Jacob Murphy, Anthony Gordon, Sean Longstaff and Callum Wilson.
Newcastle have a number of injury concerns heading into Wednesday’s match while UEFA rules also prevent others from being involved.
The Magpies currently sit top of their Champions League group following a 0-0 draw with AC Milan and 4-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain. Meanwhile, Dortmund sit bottom and are still looking to score their first goal in this year’s competition following a 2-0 defeat to PSG and 0-0 draw with Milan.
After narrowly missing out on the Bundesliga last season, Dortmund have made an unbeaten start to the season domestically and head to Tyneside having won each of their last five league matches. Their most recent win saw them beat Werder Bremen 1-0 over the weekend with Julian Brandt scoring the only goal of the game.
And Dortmund have a few players who won’t be making the trip to St James’ Park this week.

1. Julian Ryerson - out
Norwegian full-back Julian Ryerson has remained in Germany due to illness.
2. Mateu Morey - out
The right-back has not featured for Dortmund since May 2021 following a serious knee injury. He has been left out of the club’s Champions League squad as a result.
3. Thomas Meunier - out
The Belgian international has also been left out of Dortmund’s Champions League squad.
4. Antonios Papadopoulos - out
