Ahead of this weekend’s clash at St James’s Park, we’ve calculated the Magpies and their top-flight rivals’ current shots-per-goal ratio.
This comes courtesy of data from Wyscout, which has allowed us to work out how many shots it takes Steve Bruce’s men on average before they find the back of the net.
We divided the number of shots each club has registered in the league by the number of goals they have scored so far this season.
And it’s safe to say – it’s not great viewing for Newcastle:
