Nigel Pearson addresses 'expectation levels' at Newcastle United

Nigel Pearson has spoken about the “expectations levels” on Tyneside ahead of Newcastle United’s visit to Vicarage Road.

Steve Bruce’s side take on Pearson’s Watford tomorrow looking to put Wednesday night’s 5-0 defeat to Manchester City behind them.

Newcastle are 13th in the Premier League with four games left to play.

“He (Bruce) is a very experienced manager,” said Pearson, who had a spell at United as a coach earlier in his career. “He’s somebody who played in the same era as me. He’s been successful, and the Newcastle job’s not an easy one to be a success in.

“Steve would have approached it in a very calm manner. He’s a very strong personality – he’s in that job, and it’s a job he cares about, for sure. They’ve had some decent results, but the expectations at Newcastle are high. He’s such an experienced man, and he’ll be looking to end the season as strong as possible.”
