Newcastle United fan ownership bid: Here are NINE other clubs Toon supporters can look to for inspiration
Newcastle United fans have made headlines this week by starting an initiative that would see them become part owners of the club in the future.

The Newcastle United Supporters’ Trust have publicised plan that they’re calling the 1892 Pledge which aims to raise enough funds whereby they could buy a stake in the club if and when Mike Ashley comes to selling up and leaving St. James’ Park.
NUST board member Alex Hurst has suggested that a figure of around £3 million is the target, with the Trust believing that amount to be adequate to purchase a stake.
The pledge is proving popular on Tyneside too, with Toon legend Alan Shearer already giving it his backing.
But Newcastle fans aren’t the first to flirt with part-ownership of their beloved club in recent years.
