Steve Bruce is believed to be keen to bolster his midfield options before tonight’s 11pm deadline with reported interest in a number of players.
Celtic midfielder Olivier Ntcham and Leicester City man Hamza Choudhury among those to be linked with a move to Tyneside.
The Magpies had considered a move for former loan favourite Jetro Willems but Bruce ruled out a potential return for the Dutchman as he’s yet to play a competitive game since recovering from knee surgery.
Meanwhile, outgoings are also likely at St. James’ Park with right-back DeAndre Yedlin being given permission to travel to Turkey ahead of a proposed move to Galatasary.

1. IN - Hamza Choudhury
The Leicester City midfielder has been strongly linked with a move to The Magpies this month. The 23-year-old is available for transfer and is 'liked' by United head coach Steve Bruce. 2. OUT - DeAndre Yedlin
Yedlin is set to join Galatasaray – after being given permission to travel to Turkey. The United States international is out of contract in the summer and demanded 'clarity' over his future at St. James' Park. He said: "At this moment (I want) some clarity over whether Newcastle want me to stay or whether I can go. Whatever it is, it's something that needs to be talked about pretty quickly, because there's six months left on my contract.” Photo: Pool
