The Magpies are four games unbeaten in the Premier League and will be looking to capitalise on their stellar performance against Everton in midweek, however, the squad has had a few key injuries to contend with in recent weeks.
They also have a few longer term injuries to contend with as Eddie Howe looks to keep United in the Premier League. Newcastle sit outside the relegation zone but are just one point ahead of Norwich City.
New signing Matt Targett made his full debut in midweek however he will be ineligible to face his parent club on Sunday. Bruno Guimaraes made a fleeting appearance on Tuesday night whilst Dan Burn still waits for his Newcastle debut.
Here, we take a look at the very latest injury news affecting Newcastle United ahead of the clash with Aston Villa:

5. Emil Krafth
The Swedish defender missed the Leeds match and took part in some light training while in Saudi Arabia but didn't feature in the friendly match. Although he didn't feature against Everton, he was named on the bench and has seemingly overcome his injury problems. Photo: Stu Forster

6. Dan Burn - toe
Eddie Howe revealed earlier this week that Burn had been struggling with a toe injury. However, the deadline day signing was named on the bench to face the Toffees and should be fit enough for the visit of Aston Villa. Photo: Alex Pantling

7. Isaac Hayden - knee
The midfielder picked up a serious knee injury in December and has been ruled out for the remainder of the season having been left out of Newcastle's 25-man squad as a result. Photo: Stu Forster

8. Matt Ritchie - knee
There isn't too much certainly on Ritchie's injury status as he hasn't been seen in training or match action since Eddie Howe said the 32-year-old had an issue with his knee ahead of the Leeds match. He was spotted at Fratton Park on deadline day for Portsmouth's 2-1 defeat to Charlton Athletic in League One. He remains a doubt for Sunday's game as it stands. Photo: Stu Forster
