For the last decade or so, January has often been the time for Newcastle to panic as the threat of relegation looms large. This season couldn’t be more different however.
The Magpies will enter the window with big European aspirations and could use their spending powers in the market to strengthen their claim for a European spot. Whilst the winter window is a notoriously tricky time to complete business, the Magpies could look at some of their biggest transfer successes of the last decade as inspiration ahead of the window reopening. But what signings have made the biggest impact at the club in the past 10 years?

9. Jamaal Lascelles
Lascelles arrived to little fanfare but has become a stalwart of the club during his seven years at the club. He was made club captain in 2016, a role he still holds to this day and has been a reliable option in defence for all of his managers during his time on Tyneside. Photo: Ian MacNicol
Saint-Maximin is a magician with the ball at his feet and someone Newcastle have consistently relied on to produce magic and win games. There are few players in world football that gets fans off their seat like the Frenchman and once his injury problems subside, there is hope he can get back to his very best. Photo: George Wood
The Slovakian almost single-handedly kept Newcastle in the Premier League with his efforts in goal. Dubravka was rightly No.1 since his arrival in January 2018 and will go down as one of the best goalkeepers the club has seen in the Premier League era. Photo: LINDSEY PARNABY
Wilson’s goals kept Newcastle in the Premier League during the 2020/21 season and he remains the focal point of the team under Howe. Wilson is possibly the Magpies’ best all-round striker since Alan Shearer and his superb form in-front of goal forced himself into Gareth Southgate’s World Cup plans. Photo: Stu Forster
