Newcastle United are searching for a new club doctor.
Newcastle United’s head of medical, Dr Paul Catterson, is leaving to take up a role at the Premier League.

It wasn’t just Kieran Trippier and Emil Krafth waving goodbye at the end of the Magpies’ final Premier League home match of the season against West Ham United on Sunday, as Eddie Howe revealed both Catterson and academy goalkeeper Max Thompson are also set to depart.
Catterson has been at Newcastle since 2009, making him the longest-serving Head of Medicine in the Premier League, while he has also served the FA for more than a decade as an instructor on their advanced trauma medical management in football.

The Premier League’s current medical advisor, Dr Mark Gillett, is leaving his role, with The Athletic reporting earlier this month that Catterson was their top candidate. And it appears he has accepted the position after Howe namechecked him in his post-West Ham press conference.
Howe said: “Of course, today was slightly different, because we're focusing really on Kieran and Emil and Paul Catterson, Max Thompson, people that will leave us who have done a great job for us on and off the pitch.
“Obviously, Paul's the doctor here, and they've been incredible servants to the football club, and we're going to miss them. They're a big part of our lives, and they have been a big part of our lives.
“In football, nothing stays the same. Everything changes so quickly. So I think that was a really nice moment for them.”
