Newcastle United’s transfer activity has halted after a busy opening month - but how does their spending compare to their Premier League rivals.

With the Premier League season set to start this weekned, over £1.1billion has been spent in transfer fees by Premier League clubs so far this summer.

Newcastle United have spent in the region of £60million on Matt Targett from Aston Villa, Nick Pope from Burnley and Sven Botman from Lille.

But Eddie Howe’s side have gone a month without another senior signing as they look to strengthen before the transfer window slams shut at the start of September.

Some clubs are yet to spend a penny this transfer window whilst two have already paid in excess of £100million on new players - according to data from transfermarkt.co.uk.
