Guimaraes has been in sensational form for Newcastle this season and has reportedly been attracting attention from global giants like Real Madrid, Chelsea and Liverpool. Hamann told Boyle Sports: “In today's market, if Newcastle were to sell Bruno, they should do so for three figures - you're probably looking at £100m plus. Darwin Nunez signed for Liverpool for £85m and it wasn't proven that he can score goals in the Premier League whereas Bruno is proving every week what a fantastic player he is against the best players in the world.”

After their win over Aston Villa on Saturday, their third triumph in a row, Newcastle currently occupy 4th place in the Premier League table having taken 24 points from their first 13 games. Talk on Tyneside has been slowly growing over whether Howe’s team can push for a European spot this season - but what does Hamann believe Newcastle can achieve this season?

“Newcastle are genuine contenders for a top-four finish this season.” Hamann revealed. “They're a very professional team and, in Miguel Almiron, they have a player who comes up with the goods.

People probably thought they'd spend more than they have this season but I really like the look of the team and at the moment I'd make them favourites to finish in the top four.”
