Rafa Benitez reacts to speculation linking him with Leicester City job
Rafa Benitez has sidestepped questions on speculation linking him with the Leicester City job.
Claude Puel was this week sacked at the King Power Stadium in the wake of the weekend's 4-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace.
And Benitez – whose contract at Newcastle United expires in the summer – has been linked with the post.
However, Benitez was coy when asked about the position ahead of tomorrow's Premier League home game against Burnley.
Asked if he expected to be on Leicester's shortlist, United's manager said: “Short? It's not very short – it's quite long now!
“I think you know my answer. I'm really focusing on the next games. I know we have to do a job, I know that we have to stay up, and if we want to do that, I think we have to just stay focused on that.
“I understand with the issue about my contract, and now this position. It's something that you have to ask, but, at the same time, you have to understand that my main target now is to get three points against Burnley."
