Steve Bruce’s side kick off their Premier League campaign on Sunday with a home game at St James’s Park.

And there were just over 3,000 tickets left on sale today through the club’s online ticket portal ahead of the fixture. The stadium, which hosted behind-closed-doors football due to the coronavirus pandemic, was last able to host a capacity crowd on February 29 last year. West Ham United have been given 3,000-tickets for the televised game.

Last weekend’s home friendly against Norwich City was watched by 20,139 fans, and head coach Bruce said: "They’ll have enjoyed it, as they’ve missed the Premier League so much.

“So it was good to see them all. Obviously, we’ll make sure next week there’ll be even more in the stadium. It’s great. It’s what it’s all about. It’s what makes the club unique.”
