Bruce’s 17th-placed side were convincingly beaten 3-0 by Brighton and Hove Albion last night – and the club remains just two points above the Premier League’s relegation zone.

The club has won just two out of its last 20 games in all competitions – and the position of United's head coach looks to be untenable.

Despite reports this morning suggesting Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley is set to stick with Bruce, the former Aston Villa coach’s odds to be sacked have significantly shortened overnight.

Bruce is now an 11/8 favourite to be the next Premier League manager to lose his job, with Tottenham’s Jose Mourinho priced at 8/1 with SkyBet.

Former Newcastle and Sunderland manager and current West Brom boss Sam Allardyce is the third favourite to receive the sack next at 10/1.
