Isaac Hayden played in Saturday’s 2-1 win over West Bromwich Albion after being laid low for 10 days by the disease.

The 25-year-old midfielder said: “I was in bed for 10 days, and couldn't do anything. I had it quite bad, so to have two or three days training, and play a game in the Premier League, wasn't easy, but the lads stuck to it and came through with the three points.”

Steve Bruce revealed before the West Brom game that he would be without a “big chunk” of his squad because of the Covid-19 outbreak which saw the training ground closed for more than a week and the postponement of a game against Aston Villa.

The club has not named the other players affected by the Covid-19 outbreak at the training ground.

However, Federico Fernandez – who didn’t play against Slaven Bilic’s side – yesterday revealed on Instagram that he was back with the team after recovering from coronavirus.

"Nice to be back with the team after recovering from the Covid,” said the 31-year-old defender, who played in the 2-0 win over Crystal Palace late last month.

“We've still got two or three who are poorly with it now, so I'm delighted for everyone concerned, because it's been a really challenging 10 days or so,” said United's head coach.
