Sky Sports pundits talk up potential exit for 'tremendous' Newcastle target
The 24-year-old has been in impressive form for the League One outfit this term, and it is understood that he has handed in a transfer request in Cambridgeshire as he looks to push through a move in the coming weeks.
St. James’ Park has been touted as one potential destination for the player, with a number of other sides, including Celtic, Rangers, Fulham, and Stoke City also said to be keen.
Discussing the Ivorian’s situation ahead of Posh’s clash against Lincoln City on Saturday afternoon, Parkin and fellow pundit Nicky Cowley were quick to suggest that an exit in the near future is more than feasible.
The latter said: "I think Darren [Peterborough manager Darren Fergsuon] has got vast experience of dealing with this kind of situation in the past.
"Whenever I think of Peterborough, I always think of the amount of profit they’ve made from the players they’ve sold.
"Siriki has had some tremendous individual brilliant moments.
"Probably the manager has spoken openly about him trying to be a little bit more consistent in his performances, and what Darren will be doing now is monitoring his behaviours in and around the group on a daily basis.
"He’s also be watching his performance on the pitch to make sure he’s focused enough to try and help the team moving forward."
Former QPR striker Parkin added: "I think his consistency level needs to be better.
"I can understand when you’re being linked to some of the clubs of the magnitude that he is, it can turn your head, but he needs to take a leaf from Ivan Toney last year. He scored six goals in the four games after January and he got his move.
"It’s very rare [to not get a move]. If you keep your head down, keep doing the right things, even if your performances tail off a little bit, that move will still happen."
Dembele has struck five goals and five assists already this season, and is the brother of up-and-coming Celtic starlet Karamoko Dembele.
