Newcastle United are drawing 0-0 at Southampton in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg at St Mary’s - here are the half-time player ratings from the match
Newcastle’s first semi-final tie in 18 years has seen them create a few half-chances in the opening 45 minutes. Joelinton thought he’d given the visitors the lead late in the second half only for the goal to be quickly ruled out for handball.
Southampton also tested Nick Pope with Carlos Alcaraz having a shot from distance shortly before the half-time break.

5. Dan Burn - 5
Poor in possession at times but made a few good challenges and interceptions. Got away with one with Southampton’s disallowed goal.

6. Bruno Guimaraes - 6
A little bit sloppy in possession for his high standards. Looked a bit laboured at times but everything went through him. Booked.

7. Sean Longstaff - 6
An industrious display and won the ball back at key moments. Could have offered more conviction in and around the penalty area.

8. Joe Willock - 5
Got into some good areas but lacked quality with his finishing and final ball. Badly skied two good chances but did create Newcastle’s disallowed goal.
