The 21-year-old midfielder is set to join from Peruvian club Deportivo Municipal. The plan is that Vilca, initially, will link up with the development group at the club’s Academy – and not the first-team squad.

Speaking after last night’s 3-1 Premier League win over Burnley at St James’s Park, Bruce said: “The young Peruvian player, we hope, will arrive. He’ll be for the Academy to start with, that’s for sure. He’s not really going to be involved with the first team.”

Bruce also revealed that he doesn’t expect United to sign any more players ahead of Monday night’s transfer deadline. United’s head coach said:

“I don’t think, at this particular moment, we’ll be doing any more business,” said Bruce, who has signed Callum Wilson, Jeff Hendrick, Ryan Fraser and Mark Gillespie so far in the window.
