Steve Bruce delivers surprising Isaac Hayden injury update at Newcastle United

Isaac Hayden could be back for Newcastle United at Molineux – despite limping off the pitch last weekend.

Hayden was forced off against Manchester United last weekend with what Steve Bruce feared was a hamstring injury that could sideline him for a number of weeks. However, the midfielder could yet be back for Sunday’s behind-closed-doors Premier League game against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

“Isaac, we're hoping it was a bit more cramp rather than a hamstring strain,” said head coach Bruce. “He wants to try to train today, so we'll see how he is.”

Meanwhile, Bruce has the Longstaff brothers, Sean and Matty, back from tonsillitis and a thigh injury respectively. Defenders Ciaran Clark and Paul Dummett have also returned to fitness.

“Sean has declared himself OK,” said Bruce. “He’s had a horrible bout of tonsillitis, but we’ve got one or two coming back, and that can only be a good thing.”
