Steve Bruce gives Allan Saint-Maximin injury update at Newcastle United
Steve Bruce is down to the “bare bones” at Newcastle United – after losing two more players to injuries.
Fabian Schar dislocated his shoulder in last night’s 3-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at St James’s Park, while Allan Saint-Maximin suffered a calf injury. Bruce also revealed after the game that captain Jamaal Lascelles has had surgery on his ankle.
“Fab Schar’s had to go away to hospital, and Jamaal had an operation on his ankle,” said United’s head coach.
“We’re not going to put a timescale on Jamaal, but you would think any ankle operation’s going to be at least six to eight weeks. We hope that he’s back for the start of next season, but we’ll have to monitor him. We think Fab’s had a dislocation of his shoulder, so, in that respect, it’s been very difficult. We’re down to the bare bones.”
