Steve Bruce has a defensive headache at Newcastle United ahead of Southampton game

The Newcastle United defender’s partner went into labour ahead of this afternoon’s Premier League game.

Steve Bruce is already without defensive pair Jamaal Lascelles and Federico Fernandez, while Paul Dummett and Jamal Lewis are also doubtful.

"Ciaran Clark's partner has gone into labour, but we’re hoping he’ll still make it," said United’s head coach.

Loan signing Joe Willock, signed from Arsenal on transfer deadline day, could make his Newcastle debut.
