Steve Bruce highlights Newcastle United player making 'good progress'

The midfielder has signed a contract extension after a successful loan at Rotherham United last season, and Barlaser is with Bruce and his players at their pre-season training camp in York.
The 23-year-old – who trained with Bruce’s squad late last season – could yet be farmed out again by Bruce, who has loaned goalkeeper Freddie Woodman to Swansea City for a second successive season.

Hide AdAsked about Barlaser, head coach Bruce said: “Getting him on loan has been beneficial. It’s good progress. We’ve done the same with Woodman.
"We don’t want to lose Barlaser. We’ve tied Woodman up and sent him back out, and that can only help us, and the same with Matty Longstaff. We don’t want to be losing our good young players, that’s for sure. Things are bright in that respect, and long may that continue.”
